School Committee Candidate
Drew Allsopp has spent his career working in urban schools and in urban education policy. Drew began his career as a teacher in NYC. More recently, he served as a director within the RI Department of Education, and as Director of Policy for RI Lt. Governor Dan McKee. Currently, Drew is Chief of Finance & Operations of the Nowell Academy, a Providence nonprofit organization and charter high school that prepares pregnant and parenting students for college, careers, and family life. He and his wife Lindsay moved to Jamestown in 2015; their two boys are both students at Melrose.
The Jamestown schools are widely and rightfully celebrated for our excellent teachers, clear-eyed leadership, robust programming, and strong outcomes. Drew is running for School Committee as an advocate for our schools and to ensure our schools remain responsive to the needs of students and families. Needless to say, the present moment is challenging, with looming fiscal questions and unprecedented concern. Drew will bring skills to the table that will help our children and community through this crisis and beyond.
