The quotes from contemporary historians, curators and writers included here are taken from a conversation led by Jessica Bennett and Veronica Chambers of the New York Times published on July 10, 2020. “The Times gathered seven scholars, authors and thinkers for a discussion about misconceptions, the women who were left out of the history books and just how much of what the suffragists were fighting for is still relevant today.
